Our Favourite Swimming Pool Styles

Are you having trouble deciding on what type of swimming pool will be the best fit for your home? There are so many to choose from and they all look fantastic, so we can certainly understand the difficulty! In the list below, we’ve outlined some of the more popular types of pool that we work with in the hopes of helping you to reach a decision!

Free Form

If you’re looking for more of a natural look, a free form design will tick all the boxes. Instead of featuring straight lines and an identifiable shape, these pools favour curved lines and unusual shapes. Other elements commonly added to these designs include rockeries, lush plants, greenery, and overhanging decks (to name a few).

Lap

Useful for exercise or injury rehabilitation, the skinny shape of lap pools means that they can fit into narrow spaces (such as alongside the home) with ease. They’re also relatively shallow to ensure that the user can stand in between laps with ease; generally, they are deep enough to perform a tumble turn at either end.

Plunge

These designs are quite small in size and are perfect for a quick dip during the summer when the sun is blazing. Their rise in popularity is due to block sizes getting smaller and house sizes getting bigger. Swim jets can also be installed, allowing you to swim against the “current”, turning them into a compact lunge swimming pool and allowing you to work out in the comfort of your own backyard.

Pool/Spa Combinations

There’s something luxurious about having your very own outdoor spa, and having one connected to your swimming pool is no exception. Most will seat between 6 and 8 adults comfortably. Keep in mind that the bigger your spa the longer it will take to heat up. The available heating options include a natural gas heater or heat pump.

Infinity

If you have a sloped block of land, an infinity or negative edge pool can add a luxurious touch – the water appears as if it has no boundaries when, in actual fact, it flows over the edge into a catch basin and is cycled back up into the main pool. The end result is truly stunning, adding a touch of tropical paradise to any property, allowing you to enjoy a 5-star swimming experience every time.

Indoor

If you’re on the hunt for the most opulent of all swimming pools, then look no further than a luxurious indoor feature. Swim all year round with a pool that only the best of the best get to enjoy! Your home will feel like an upmarket hotel in no time!
